what is meta house’s dry january campaign?
Our Dry January campaign is an invitation to the community to focus on our physical, emotional, and mental health in the New Year, to uplift women and families affected by substance use disorder, and to support local businesses who are intentional about creating an inclusive space for people to connect.
Throughout January, over 20 Milwaukee-area restaurants are featuring creative, alcohol-free mocktails in partnership with Meta House. Some restaurants donate a portion of proceeds from these drinks while others help raise awareness by sharing information about us and our work. Together, these partnerships create welcoming spaces for everyone.
At its core, Dry January is about more than a month without alcohol; it’s about normalizing alcohol-free choices, reducing stigma around substance use disorder, and building a culture rooted in compassion, belonging, and health.

Funds raised through the Dry January campaign support Project Horizon, Meta House’s campus expansion that will significantly increase access to trauma-informed, family-centered substance use disorder treatment for women and families across Wisconsin. Project Horizon will double the capacity of our residential program and expand on-site services so women and families in our community are empowered to thrive. By participating in Dry January, whether enjoying mocktails, attending an event, or making a gift to Meta House, you are helping to create a more inclusive community and ensuring that more women and families across Wisconsin can access the care they deserve.
