What You Can Accomplish For Brenayder, future accomplishments are directly tied to her recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol. Brenayder spent 12 years as an addict while also suffering from depression. She was using drugs to cover the pain of the abuse she experienced in past relationships. She was homeless, living on the streets, and in need of help. It was her baby girl who brought Brenayder to Meta House. With nowhere else to go she sought treatment for her addiction and help for her family. At Meta House she learned how to be a good mother. She learned how to be a successful woman, and she has been sober for over 18 years. The most important outcome of her time at Meta House, Brenayder says, is “reaching my goals. I have a good job, a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food in my stomach. Plus, I’ve been clean for almost 19 years.” Just as Meta House helped Brenayder reach her goals, your support helped us accomplish so much in 2010. Meta House is proud to have served 335 women and their children last year. These women and children represent families that have broken the generational cycle of substance abuse. Brenayder will be celebrating 19 years of recovery in February. You can join her in celebration on Thursday, February 3rd when she shares her story at Meta Moments: Finding a Home in Recovery. A Family Portrait, A Lasting MemoryHelp Portrait is a community of photographers who use their time, equipment, and expertise to give back to those in need. In December, photographers around the world went into their communities and gave families in need a portrait together just in time for the holidays. Help Portrait came to Meta House and our women and their children were able to pose for a family photo - something they may never have done before. We'd like to give a big thank you to Help Portrait Milwaukee for giving Meta House families a beautiful, lasting memory! |
